As the WWE earnings were released last week, it announced another round of talent releases due to budget cuts from the company. The 18 pro wrestlers will have to seek out work elsewhere.
Among those cut included Nia Jax, who had been a big part of the women’s division on the main roster. Also, the likes of Karrion Kross and Keith Lee who were big-name signings when they caught on with the company.
The releases last week go along with others who were let go by the company including such big names as Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Lana, Aleister Black and Ruby Riott. The last two have found new homes with AEW. Daniel Bryan also left company when his contract expired and is now with AEW.

Payout Perspective:
The pandemic certainly hurt everyone and WWE was one of the company’s that lost out in revenue when live events were taken away from them. The releases reflect talent that the company wanted to create characters in their mind but for whatever reason, it did not happen. In my opinion, some of the signings that were in NXT were signed as a way to keep them away from competitors. As ironic as it may seem, with the releases, the company’s outlook actually looks better. For shareholders, the cuts ‘streamline’ spending on salaries. What it means for the depth of the roster is another question.
