According to boxing writer Dan Rafael, Saturday’s night Triller fight featuring Vitor Belfort and Evander Holyfield drew 150,000 PPV buys including linear and digital platforms.
The third featured Triller PPV broadcast in its existence likely grossed about $7.5M from the PPV alone (assuming 150K buys) per Rafael. However, the gross revenue did not cover the purses as well as the likely exorbitant price tag for Donald Trump to half-ass commentary. Not to mention, per TMZ Sports, Triller provided the former President a G-5 jet to take him back and forth from his hotel in West Palm Beach to the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida.
Payout Perspective:
The event was supposed to have been Oscar de la Hoya fighting Belfort. But, after de la Hoya came down with COVID-19, Triller inserted Holyfield into the main event. Holyfield was filing a grievance against Triller due to the fact that he was to have fought on Triller’s card in June which was to feature Teofimo Lopez. But, that was postponed and Holyfield was left without a bout. The main event saw Belfort destroy the 58-year-old former champ. The 150,000 PPV buys is surprising considering how devoid of talent this card had and the addition of Trump likely polarized a sect of fans too.
