Deadline reports that the WWE is returning to touring with live events in different cities. The 25-city schedule starts in July with Texas serving as a major hub for the return for live events.
Smackdown will start the touring dates in Houston on July 16th and its monthly PPV will be on Fort Worth on July 18th followed by Raw from Dallas.
No other tour dates have been scheduled but one would believe that the WWE will be heading to Arizona and Florida. These are two states that have or will host the UFC in coming weeks. The UFC held an event in Houston last week and in Florida last month. It is scheduled to hold an event in Arizona in June.
Payout Perspective:
The news of the WWE returning to the road is a good sign for the company’s bottom line as the lack of fans at live events put a dent in the company’s revenues. There’s an obvious trickle-down effect with the inability to sell merchandise for these events as well. Of course, the UFC held events first and the big Canelo Alvarez fight at Texas Stadium likely solidified a decision to return to the road in front of fans. Finding states that have been aggressive upon return also helps.
