Wilder wins arbitration case, faces Fury next

According to ESPN’s Mark Kriegel, boxing heavyweight Deontay Wilder has won his arbitration case for a trilogy fight with Tyson Fury.  The proposed date must occur by September 2021, which will nix an anticipated superfight between Fury and Anthony Joshua.

The arbitrator decision unravels a proposed fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia which was to have taken place on August 14th.  The event was to bring in tons of revenue for the promoters for a site fee charge and “trickle” down to the fighters who would have been paid millions.

While Wilder-Fury III will still bring a lot of money, it will not pull the type of money and global recognition as Anthony Joshua-Fury. 

The legalities of the arbitration decision have to come to light although we may see a written decision in the coming days.

Payout Perspective:

The decision upsets the state of the heavyweight division and what may have been.  Fury now has to reset and focus on a third fight with Wilder.  This may be one that he may overlook due to the fact he had his eyes on Joshua this whole times.  We may not have heard the last of this with AJ’s promoter being left out of Fury’s next big fight.
