UFC files for trademarks for branded cryptocurrency, NFTs

April 28, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

It appears that UFC NFTs and cryptocurrency is on its way as the company filed trademark applications for its use in the space last week.

As first reported by trademark attorney Josh Gerben, the UFC filed a number of applications related to cryptocurrency and an app for users to manage crypto currency and NFTs.

The UFC has filed several new trademark applications indicating it has plans to launch:

1. A UFC-branded cryptocurrency.

2. An app for users to manage cryptocurrency and NFTs.

The filings were just made with the USPTO on April 23rd.#ufc pic.twitter.com/DKfumXWfqP

The blockchain craze is upon us and with many sports entering into the NFT market, sponsorship endorsements with crypto companies and even players accepting their paychecks in bitcoin, this does not appear to be a fad but a method of currency in the future.

Notably, the PFL launched $PFL fan tokens on its fan app which sold out immediately.

Payout Perspective:

The filing of the mark applications does not necessarily mean that the UFC will launch anything soon but there’s a likelihood that this is the way they are going.  The company already has a deal with Dapper Labs, the company that launched NBA Top Shot, so it’s a matter of time before the company launches its own NFTs and currency on a blockchain.
