One Championship on TNT draws 196K

April 8, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

One Championship MMA on TNT drew 196,000 viewers on Wednesday night according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The telecast was the first of four events to be shown every week on TNT.

The telecast was 86th in cable on Wednesday night and only drew a 0.08 household rating.  Notably, its lead-in was AEW which featured the return of Mike Tyson.  Even the 5th highest-rated show on cable Wednesday could not help viewers from turning the channel once ONE Championship came on.

AEW had 688,000 viewers on Wednesday and a household rating of 0.28.  One only produced 0.08 in the same demo.

In the two highly-anticipated fights, Demetrious Johnson was upset via KO and Eddie Alvarez lost via disqualification.

Payout Perspective:

One will hold four events each week in April but one has to be concerned that it could only draw 196,000 viewers with one of the top cable shows on Wednesday night as its lead-in.  Further, this was the big event with two top US names for people to watch.  Yet, it couldn’t even garner 200,000 viewers.
