Force Majeure is a French term which translates into “Act of God.” Its a contractual term that excuses performance of a party due to an unforseen event. In a recent lawsuit filed in New York, a promoter sued a fighter for breaching the terms of their contract.
O’Shaquie Foster is an up-and-coming 130 pound fighter promoted by Lou DiBella. Foster allegedly breached his contract with DiBella after the promoter notified his stable that he would invoke the “Force Majeure” clause due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing stay-at-home orders.
