Cyborg-Smith rematch set for May 21st in Bellator

April 2, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Bellator announced that Cristiane Justino will be returning to the cage to defend her Featherweight title against Leslie Smith.  The fight was announced on Friday night and will headline the company’s May 21st event on Showtime.

This will be the second fight between the two as they headlined UFC 198 in May 2016.  Justino won that fight via first round TKO.

Payout Perspective:

This will be an interesting fight from the name brand standpoint.  Smith is an outspoken advocate of unionizing fighters.  Justino is the Featherweight champion and a star in her own right. It’s hard to think that this fight goes any different than what occurred in Brazil 5 years ago but the shoulder programming leading up to this will be good to watch.
