Mike Tyson posted on social media that he plans on fighting once again in May but Triller will not be promoting him.
In an Instagram post, Tyson vehemently denied any ties with the organization as he intends to return to boxing in earnest this May. Although no opponent has been scheduled, it seems as though his exhibition with Roy Jones, Jr. late last year rejuvenated the interest of the 54-year-old Tyson. The event which featured musical acts in addition to the main event of the two heavyweight legends drew over 1 million PPV buys.
However, in a social media post, Tyson noted that he did not know of any “triller Executives Personally.”
“I don’t have a deal with Triller or any head executive representing them for the next event,” read a portion of the post. “I will never do another event or any business with Triller…”
Tyson seems to be backing his own company when it comes to future promotions.
Payout Perspective:
We all knew that something like this was bound to happen for Tyson. It would seem that he is spiraling down the path he formerly did while he was in boxing. You might infer that there is a contractual disagreement between himself and the upstart social media company. This shall only lead to some sort of litigation which may prevent Tyson from putting on his next event. Returning to boxing on a semi-full-time/full-time is not a good choice by Tyson. While he does seem to be in shape, it also is a recipe for failure as those that made money off of him in his heyday are now circling once again.
