The Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Charlie Ontiveros six months after a failed drug test. The punishment was handed down on Tuesday at the commission’s monthly meeting.
The 29-year-old welterweight last fought this past October in a loss to Kevin Holland. He had moved up to 185 pounds to face Holland and lost via TKO.
Ontiveros failed a urine test when his results showed DHCMT M3 metabolites. It is also known as the steroid of Oral Turinabol.
In addition to the six-month suspension, he was fined $2,245.36 ($1,800 +$445.36 in legal fees. He was also be subject to a random drug-testing program and present results under 100 picograms in order to be reinstated on April 30.
Payout Perspective:
Ontiveros had taken the fight on short notice and was moving up to middleweight. If Oral Turinabol sounds familiar its also the drug that Jon Jones claims to have pulsing through his system for no apparent reason. USADA has yet to reveal whether Ontiveros is also being punished due to a violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy.
