Opposite Inauguration, UFC live event draws just 244K

January 27, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Last Wednesday’s UFC’s Fight Night which actually aired in the morning in North America opposite the U.S. Inauguration of Joe Biden drew 244,000 viewers per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

The event featured Neil Magny taking on Michael Chiesa in what amounted to a showcase fight for the Spokane, Washington-based fighter.  Chiesa dominated the 5-round main event.  The prelims aired on ESPN+.

The telecast on ESPN drew 110,000 in the A18-49 demo and a 0.15 household rating.

The event aired at noon on the East Coast and 9am on the West Coast.

Payout Perspective:

The UFC live event mid-week usually occurs at night in the U.S.  However, this time around it air midday and on a day where those that had the option tuned into the Inauguration.  The 244,000 is a low figure but considering the timing of the event, it was bound to not pull any ratings.
