Anthony Pettis joins PFL

December 23, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis has signed with the Professional Fighters League for its upcoming season starting this April 2021.

Pettis announced that he was leaving the UFC after the last fight on contract which was this past Saturday.

The Professional Fighters League cancelled its 2020 season due to the pandemic, but announced its 2021 season would begin this April.  Already slated for this season are former UFC fighters Rory MacDonald, Fabricio Werdum, Olivier Auburn-Mercier and Justin Willis.

Pettis will compete in the lightweight division for the PFL>

Payout Perspective:

Pettis to PFL is not a huge surprise although one would have thought he would go to Bellator with his younger brother.  But, the PFL is looking to make a splash in 2021 after missing out on 2020.  Pettis should bring excitement and depth to the division and he’s a marketable figure for the company.  Showtime should be able to work on marketing deals which should compensate for his salary in the UFC.
