The Legal Submission Episode 16 – Luck-McMahon fight over iphone

December 18, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

It’s another episode of The Legal Submission where I discuss the current state of litigation in the Oliver Luck-Vince McMahon case.

You might recall that this lawsuit was put on hold while the XFL went through bankruptcy. After the sale of assets to The Rock and Dany Garcia’s group, the lawsuit was allowed to continue.

The main issue at this point is an iphone in Luck’s possession that is XFL issued. McMahon’s lawyers maintain that Luck was fired “for cause” as a result of a violation of company policy which includes the personal use of his cell phone. Luck has conceded that he’s used the cell phone for personal use so there is no need to obtain the phone.

From McMahon’s brief:

The attorneys in the litigation discussed the iphone. Notably, it seems as though the phone was returned but it is locked.
