Smith leads Performance Bonuses for UFC on ESPN 18

November 29, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC on ESPN 18 took place on Saturday night at The Apex in Las Vegas.  The promotion handed out 4 bonuses including one for the main eventer Anthony Smith as he submitted Devin Clark.

The other Performance Bonuses went to Miguel Baeza, Su Mudaerji and Nate Maness.  There was no Fight of the Night.  Baeza earned his $50,000 bonus with a submission over Takashi Sato.  Mudaerji stopped Malcolm Gordon in the first round of their flyweight matchup.  Maness submitted Luke Sanders in a fight between bantamweights on the undercard.

Smith used his grappling skills to work a triangle choke on Clark.

Payout Perspective:

Smith and Clark served as the main event on Saturday after Curtis Blaydes tested positive for COVID-19.  Smith needed the performance in order to get back into the light heavyweight title picture.
