The UFC 255 Prelims drew 587,000 viewers on Saturday night on ESPN2 for its three hour telecast which preceded the PPV. The event drew a household rating of 0.17 and 0.26 in the M18-49 demo per Nielsen via ShowBuzz daily.
Overall, the telecast drew 221,000 viewers in the A18-49 demo. It aired on ESPN2 due to college football on the main network.
The event featured Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royal in a fight which determined who would face Deiveson Figueiredo next month to headline the UFC 256 PPV. Moreno earned the title shot with a stoppage over Royal.
Payout Perspective:
The ratings were down due to a number of factors including being on ESPN2, college football and the relative unknowns of this PPV. The battle at flyweight was a good television fight to air for the casuals and it got people ready for the PPV. Yet, the lack of notable fighters on the telecast probably contributed to a lower number.
