PFL announces return in 2021

October 20, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Professional Fighters League announced its 2021 regular season schedule set to begin in Las Vegas in April 2021.  The PFL announced last spring that it would skip the 2020 season due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The season will commence on April 23, 2021 and include events on 4/29, 5/6, 6/10 and 6/25.  According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto the PFL will be working to have the “regular season” in a bubble.

The Playoffs and Championships have yet to be determined.

Payout Perspective:

You may recall that Lance Palmer and others threatened a lawsuit for not holding the 2020 season.  It had to be hard for fighters contracted with the PFL despite a stipend given to them by the league.  The problem was the uncertainty at the time.  Coming back in the spring of 2021 is helpful for fighters and gives the PFL some time to learn from other sports that have come back from COVID-19.  While not as big as the UFC and Bellator, PFL will add content for ESPN and the digital platform.
