Two fights out for UFC 254 due to COVID-19

October 16, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Two more UFC fights are off due to COVID-19 tests.  Rafael dos Anjos is out of his bout with Islam Makhachev and Cynthia Calvillo is out of her fight with Lauren Murphy.

Both of those fights were set to take place next week at UFC 254.

Murphy wished Calvillo well.  The UFC has found Liliya Shakirova to replace Calvillo for next Saturday.

Hope @cyn_calvillo is okay! Maybe (hopefully) we can run it in a few weeks!
In the mean time, I’m still planning on having the fight of my life on Fight Island! See you guys soon ❤️ https://t.co/mHolXWt7uz

Unfortunately for Makhachev, the UFC has not found a replacement to fight him next Saturday.  He has not fought since September 2019.

Payout Perspective:

With restrictions loosening across the U.S., the positive tests for COVID are on the rise.  The UFC has been trying to have fighters on the ready in the case that there were positive tests.  Unfortunately, Makhachev will have to wait until at least next month to get a fight.
