UFC on ESPN+33 Prelims draw 564K

September 1, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC Fight Night Prelims which aired on ESPN Saturday night drew 564,000 viewers overall and 241,000 in the A18-49 demo per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

The prelims which were to air in a 3-hour block from 6-9pm ET was delayed 15 mins due to NBA Playoff basketball but there was no loss since a fight was scrapped.  The event featured Maki Pitolo and Impa Kasanganay which the North Carolinan Kasanganay won via unanimous decision.

The main card aired on ESPN’s digital platform, ESPN+.

Payout Perspective:

Not the worst showing for a prelim show post-pandemic stoppage but certainly not the best.  The telecast featured some good fights and stoppages but no one worth tuning in for in the three hour block.  There was a good deal of sports on Saturday night including a network NASCAR event which averaged over 3.5 million viewers on NBC that could have pulled some casual viewers aside.
