PBC on Fox Saturday night drew its lowest-ratings ever against stiff network competition. It averaged 562,000 viewers in the first hour and 726,000 viewers in the second hour per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.
The ratings may see a slight uptick as these numbers are the fast overnights and does not include the main card. However, it was up against a marquee NBA matchup of LeBron James and the LA Lakers against the Portland Trailblazers, a key Stanley Cup matchup (and only NHL game on Saturday) as well as the UFC on ESPN.
The telecast featured Shawn Porter as he returned to the ring to defeat Sebastian Formella in a welterweight battle that Porter easily cruised to victory.
PBC on Fox fast nationals on August 8 saw it draw 711,000 viewers in hour 1 and 834,000 in hour 2 opposite PGA Gold and NHL Hockey.
Saturday night, the NBA game started with a countdown show in the 8-8:30 slot drawing 2.2M viewers, the half hour slot of the game drew 1.572M, second hour 2.88M (9-10pm slot). NHL drew 1.3M in first hour and 1.2 in second hour.
Also of note, the low ratings in the A18-49 demo with a 0.1 share in 8-9pm slot a 0.2 in 9-10pm slot. Similarly in M18-49 it drew a 1 share in the first hour and a 2 share in hour 2.
Payout Perspective:
Bleak ratings for PBC on Fox when it had a marquee name returning to action. Stiff competition going up against LeBron. What should concern those boxing enthusiasts is its low ratings in the key younger demos. Even in the over 50 category it drew low ratings (1 share in over 50).
