AEW scored a victory over NXT in its weekly competition. This time, AEW drew a widening margin of 901,000 viewers to NXT’s 763,000.
AEW and NXT were both up from the prior week in overall viewership. The same can be said for their viewership in the 18-49 demo (20%) for AEW while NXT was up (11%).
AEW placed 5th overall in cable ratings drawing 0.36 in the A18-49 demo, 0.26 F18-49, 0.45 in M18-49, 0.29 in A18-34, 0.21 F12-34, 0.28 in M12-34, 0.39 A25-54 and 0.33 in over 50.
NXT drew 27th overall and 0.20 in A18-49, 0.15 in M18-49, 0.25 A18-34, 0.11 A18-34, 0.09F12-34, 0.28 M12-34, 0.24 A25-54 and 0.39 in over 50.
This week saw the reemergence of Eric Bischoff on TNT as he was a guest on AEW. Also, former NFL player Pat MacAfee made an appearance in what looks like to be a match with Adam Cole at the next NXT Takeover.
Payout Perspective:
The increase in viewership in wrestling programming is encouraging in light of the return of NHL, NBA and MLB. The ratings maintain the status quo regarding AEW skewing toward the young and the over 50s going with NXT. The trend is so pronounced that the Young Bucks have made a skit of attempting to help attract the older audience.
