Showtime is back to boxing as it announced cards starting in August through the end of the year. It will also hold two pay-per-views.
The first fight on Showtime begins on August 1st featuring Stephen Fulton, Jr. vs. Angelo Leo in a junior featherweight bout.
The network will also promote a September 26th PPV featuring the Charlo twins. Jermall Charlo will defend his WBC middleweight title against Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Jermell Charlo will fight Jeison Rosario.
The second PPV will take place on October 24th and feature Gervonta “Tank” Davis as he takes on Leo Santa Cruz for the 130-pound WBA title.
Payout Perspective:
The good news is that boxing looks to get back into the swing. I leave it to boxing fans as to whether the offerings on Showtime are worthy of keeping your subscriptions. Obviously, there have to be COVID-19 compliant restrictions to ensure that these cards go forward. The two PPVs scheduled for the fall seem ambitious and will need a lot of promotion to entice the casual viewer since there is no marquee boxer on the cards. With the cards leading up to each this fall, one would assume a good amount of shoulder programming.
