According to a recent article by The Athletic on the rise of video games sales during the pandemic, the latest UFC game from EA sports has seen a spike in use.
Per the Athletic Biz, the latest version of the UFC video game released in 2018 saw a 280% increase in play from last year.
EA Sports in April had double the player engagement of the same month last year which exemplifies the increase in video game playing. Overall play is “up more than 30 percent year over year” according to EA Sports executive Cam Weber.
The article from The Athletic highlighted the usage rates of sports games as an escape from the realities of the pandemic as well as a substitute for the absence of live sports.
It also reports on the big investments made by video game publishers EA and Take Two.
Also, of note, EA UFC 4 looks to be on the horizon as there is beta testing on an inevitable new version.
Payout Perspective:
The article goes to show you that people are in need of a replacement for sports. The fact that gameplay for a game that is two years old is on the rise shows an interest and/or an availability of time to play.
