UFC on ESPN 8 draws 1.198M viewers, highest in male 18-49 demo on cable Saturday

May 19, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC Fight Night on ESPN drew 1.198M viewers on Saturday night proving that sports fans are craving for live entertainment.  The prelims drew 690,000 viewers on ESPN and also finished within the top 5 in cable viewing on Saturday.

UFC Fight Night on ESPN 8 featured heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris.  Overeem stopped Harris in the 2nd round of their main event matchup.

The 2-hour prelims which preceded the main card on ESPN drew 690,000 viewers.

The main card drew 0.50 in the A18-49 demo and 0.71 in the M18-49 demo (most viewership in the demo for Saturday night).  The prelims drew 0.26 in the A18-49 demo and 0.38 in the M18-49 demo.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings for both the main card and prelims were in the top 5 in cable viewership on Saturday with the main card scoring the highest marks with the coveted male 18-49 demo for the night. The viewership reflects the fact that sports fans are thirsting for live entertainment and the UFC filled that void.  The ratings for UFC on ESPN are the second-highest for UFC event-specific telecasts (i.e., non-PPV Prelims) and the biggest since UFC on ESPN 1 which drew 1.4 million viewers.
