NXT wins overall ratings battle versus AEW

April 17, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

NXT won another week in the total viewership of its two-hour telecast on the USA Network versus AEW Dynamite on TNT.  NXT drew 692,000 viewers and AEW with 683,000 viewers per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

AEW scored higher in the A18-49 demo with 0.25 and 0.35 with males 18-49.  NXT drew 0.17 in the A18-49 demo.

The events were tape-delayed without fans due to social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home edicts by the respective states where the telecasts were held.  AEW pre-taped matches a couple weeks ago to compensate for this downtime. Both telecasts used pre-taped vignettes to compensate for the lack of in-ring action.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings have shown a lag since both had to go without a crowd.  WWE’s product, NXT, won the last two weeks based on its pull with older viewers.  The trend will likely continue as WWE is back to producing live content as granted by the State of Florida.
