Ratings down this week for Smackdown on Fox

March 29, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

WWE Smackdown drew an average of 2.374 million viewers on Fox Friday night according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The viewership numbers are down from last week.

Once again, WWE is airing episodes without an audience.  Its biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania, will be held without an audience, tape-delayed and airing on two separate nights to accommodate the ban on large gatherings.

The first hour drew 2.393 million viewers, a 0.7 in the A18-49 demo and a 4 share in A18- 49.  The second hour drew 2.355 million viewers, a 0.7 in the A18-49 demo and a 4 share in the A18-49 demo.

Payout Perspective:

A bad night for WWE programming as the ratings fell at a time when they should be gaining momentum into Wrestlemania.  Unfortunately, the empty arenas and taped segments are not helping with fan interest right now.  The ratings are a sign that this year’s big event may fall flat.
