WWE Smackdown posts 2.5M viewer average opposite Dem Debate

February 9, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

WWE Friday Night Smackdown drew an average of 2.547 million viewers over its 2 hour telecast on Fox.  Notably, there was little drop off from the first to the second hour.

Smackdown drew 2.555M viewers in the first hour and 2.539M viewers in the second hour.  It drew a 0.7 rating in the A18-49 demo and a 5 share among M18-49.  The second hour saw the adult demo grow to 0.8 and a 6 share in M18-49.

ABC led the night due to the Democratic Debate which drew a high of 7.7M viewers in the 9-10pm hour.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings should be a positive in a rather dim weak for the company as its stock took a hit and the surprising announcement that the company may license away its WWE Network to another digital provider.  The good news is that it lost a minimal amount of viewers from the first to second hour and the demos actually grew from hour 1 to hour 2.
