Knees to face and dirt slams: Darrion Caldwell and Adam Borics predict early ending to their encounter

January 25, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Adam Borics is a confident fighter.

The undefeated 26-year-old predicts that his opponent Saturday night, Darrion Caldwell, will meet his knee to end the fight. In an interview with MPO, the Hungarian-fighter did not shy away from fight predictions as he meets the former Bellator lightweight champion in the quarterfinals of the 155 pound featherweight grand prix.

Borics stated that he’s had a 14-week fight camp which spans from his last fight this past September.  “For me, I’m always in training camp,” said Borics. “I love it, this is my job.”  Borics trains with Henry Hoof in Florida.

Undefeated in his career including a 5-0 Bellator record which includes wins over Olympian Aaron Pico and Pat Curran, its hard not to see why Borics isn’t confident in his skills.

“He’s a former champion,” Borics said of Caldwell.  “He’s a good wrestler and he’s a good test for me, but I will finish him.”  As if he’s played out the scenario in his mind time and again before this Saturday, Borics envisions the ending of the fight.   “A lot of people are scared of my knee,” Borics explained, “When I feel him shoot me, that’s when I will hit him with the knee.”

Of course, the former champion believes that the outcome will be different.

“Have you ever heard of a dirt slam?” Caldwell asked MPO.  “On the 25th I’m going to show you a dirt slam.”  Similar to Borics, Caldwell predicted that their encounter would not last the full 3 rounds.  He predicts a short fight that will end within 3 minutes of the first round.

Caldwell had hoped that Bellator champion Patricio Freire would have picked him as his opponent for this tournament quarterfinal.  But Freire chose Pedro Carvalho instead.  Now, Caldwell will have to get through Borics for any shot at a chance at Freire.

“I think that’s a great approach to have confidence in ability, but he will have to make it happen,” Caldwell said of his opponent. Based on Caldwell’s confidence, he doesn’t believe Borics will have enough to put him down.

The two square off as part of Bellator 238 at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday night.  The night will feature the debut of Cris “Cyborg” as she challenges for the women’s Featherweight world title against Julia Budd.
