AEW wins another week versus NXT

January 17, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

All Elite Wrestling scored another victory on Wednesday night as it drew 940,000 viewers per Nielsen.  The promotion on TNT placed 5th overall in cable programming for Wednesday. NXT on USA drew 700,000 viewers.

Coming off of the announcement that it would be extended through 2023, AEW Dynamite maintained the third straight week of over 900,000 viewers since coming back on January 1st.  It was the third straight week of beating NXT in the ratings.

Overall, it drew 0.38 in the A18-49 demo, 0.51 in M18-49, 0.42 in A25-54 and 0.34 in A+50.  In comparison, NXT drew 0.21 in the A18-49 demo, 0.26 in M18-49, 0.24 in the A25-54 and 0.35 in A+50.

Payout Perspective:

With the exception of the over 50 crowd, AEW is winning the ratings war in 2020.  It is doing well in the younger target demos which the WWE usually wins on Friday nights with SmackDown.  It would seem that at least with live head-to-heads that 2020 is the year for AEW.
