MacDonald signs with PFL

December 18, 2019 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Rory MacDonald has signed with the Professional Fighters League to compete in the 2020 season for the welterweight title and $1 million grand prize according to Ariel Helwani and PFL officials.

MacDonald, the former UFC contender and Bellator welterweight champion was 3-2-1 with the Viacom-owned company.  However, MacDonald had seemed to lose the drive that he previously had when he was with the UFC.

Payout Perspective:

For the PFL, it is a great pickup assuming that MacDonald has the drive to continue in MMA.  MacDonald may have liked the tournament-style and idea of a season.  Yet, an upset during the season may derail MacDonald’s choice.  Also, it would seem that this would be another pay decrease for The Red King although he still has the chance to monetize his brand through sponsors.
