UFC 245 draws 865,000 viewers on ESPN2

December 17, 2019 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC 245 Prelims on ESPN2 this past Saturday drew 865,000 viewers according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

The telecast featured the hard-hitting matchup between Geoff Neal and Mike Perry.  Neal won via stoppage in the first round.  The short timeframe of the feature as well as the preceding fight KO by Irena Aldana of Ketlen Viera led to some filler time which included the Early Prelim fight between Chase Hooper and David Teymur before the PPV start at the top of the hour.

2019 PPV Prelims

UFC 234:  1.39M

UFC 235:  1.48M

UFC 236:  893,000

UFC 237:  813,000

UFC 238:  964,000

UFC 239:  1.145M

UFC 240:  772,000

UFC 241:  817,000

UFC 242:  222,000  *FX

UFC 243:  559,000

UFC 244:  910,000

UFC 245:  865,000

Payout Perspective:

Not the biggest of ratings but pretty respectable on a night in which there was overlap with Top Rank Boxing on ESPN.  The telecast which featured Terrence Crawford had the biggest boxing audience on ESPN in 2019 with 1.35M viewers.  On a night with three championship fights on the same PPV card, one may have thought a viewership of over 1 million.  But, due in part to boxing this did slightly less.
