Combate Americas event does well with target demos but not with US PPV

December 13, 2019 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Combate Americas announced that 3.1 million Televisa Canal 5 viewers in Mexico watched the promotion’s biggest event to date with Tito Ortiz taking on Alberto El Patron.  Unfortunately, the PPV was not as robust with viewers.

According to a company press release, the buys “did not fare as well.”  The release stated, “[i]nitial reports indicate a low buy rate for the company’s only pay-per-view offering to date.”

The event, which aired December 7th took place in Hidalgo, Texas and focused on the Hispanic viewing audience.  According to the release, “nearly 7,000 fans” attended the event and there were a healthy number of online pay-per-view buys from the Latin American audience as well as chatter on social media discussing the event.

Payout Perspective:

One can only surmise how many buys the event did in the United States but when the company admits as much, it has to be a small amount.  Yet, its inclusion of its successful results in the Mexican/Latin American market softens the blow and reminds fans that there is a market for the product.
