UFC 234 drew 15,238 fans for a live gate of $2,470,088 according to Dana White at the post fight press conference. The event was a sell out despite the fact that the main event was called off the day of the show.
UFC took place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
The fight bonuses went to Israel Adesanya, Anderson Silva, Montana De La Rosa and Devonte Smith. Israel and Silva earned the Fight of the Night while De La Rosa and Smith earned Performance bonuses for their respective stoppages in their bouts.
Payout Perspective:
According to White, there was no real impact despite the Robert Whittaker-Kelvin Gastelum fight was called off last minute. While he did not give a number, White stated that PPV “wasn’t bad at all.” Interesting enough, the Prelims on ESPN should do well considering it worked with another lead-in of Duke-Virginia. This event drew over 1 million google searches which may be based on a combination of the main event scratch and the replacement fight of Adesanya and Silva.
