Rashad’s last officially reported salary was at UFC 167 in November 2013 when he made $125K and $125K. Notably, his show salary has gone up to $150,000. Teixeira’s salary should continue to rise with this win.

After reading this, I support Mayweather Promotions moving into MMA even more. Its absolutely ridiculous how little these fighters make, absolutely ridiculous….especially in comparison to how much the promotion makes. White, the Fertitta brothers are pushing hundreds of millions and billions respectively in assets and savings and guys in the main events are barely making 6 figures….ridiculous.
d says
Wil, you just proved why you, Mayweather, and PBC are all oblivious on how to run a promotion. Your comments are littered with so much ignorance, it is unbelievable.
First off, the salaries for this card were a total of 1.15m dollars. I’m guessing that you didn’t bother to realize that the Henderson-Machida fight was scrapped which would have accounted for another roughly 1m dollars- seeing how they were by far the two highest paid fighters on the card. The FOX deal only pays out approximately slightly over 2m per show. Seeing how this was a FOX show, let’s say for argument sake the rights fee for this event was 3m(which it was probably slightly less), the gate was a little over 1m. Sponsorship maybe another 500k. Int’l tv, maybe another few hundred k. I doubt there were any site fees for this seeing how low profile it was. Let’s say the gross for the event was 5m. From that 5m, the ufc has to incur some of the production costs, with their film team/Rogan & Goldberg, which probably cost them at least 500k. Then you have to pay the fighters, as I pointed out was another 1.15m. Then they have to pay these things called taxes. Sales tax on the gate, the broadcast, etc. which is at least 6%. Which equals probably another 150k. You have to insure everything, pay the state athletic commission fees, etc. They have to then cover each fighter and 1 trainers travel/lodging expenses, etc. That’s another few hundred k. When all is said and done, they are probably looking at a net profit of about 2-3m, and had the Henderson fight gone through, they would have been looking at a fighter payout of over 2m and a net profit for the UFC of around 1-2m. Also, ppv headliners make the most money, because those fights generate far more revenue. Those guys do not barely break a hundred k, they make millions at the top.
As for throwing Mayweather Promotions out there, where do you get such delusions? Let’s say the genius decides to get into mma and starts promoting fights. What do you think is going to make him pay fighters more than 2m or even 1m for a low profile fight card? You do realize this was the exact strategy that companies like Affliction and EliteXC tried and it failed miserably for a reason, just like PBC is failing as well. You can’t overpay fighters and expect to succeed. You notice why Bellator has hung around so long? Because they were the one company smart enough to know, they can’t just start throwing money around at free agents and hope in the short run that develops a brand name. It is a long process.
Also, one more thing to point out- the fighters complaining about pay in the UFC are undercard fighters. Look at the purses above. The lowest fighter was paid was 12k. Go check out every single Mayweather ppv and I promise you there are several fighters making less than that. Some make as low as 1k.

I read the first line of that response and that was it, really not interested in your style of posting youngster, though you enjoy arguing with the others on here.

Because you realized that you have no clue what you are talking about.

Tops imploding again after PBC hits a record low. Hahaha.
UFC sale figures(even though a sale is unlikely)….6b
PBC net worth….I’ll let you know when they appraise that jumbotron. Hahahahahaha!!!
Fight Fan says
D pbc closes fighters go back to showtime and hbo lol, nothing wrong with that
d says
When PBC fails, it will prove that boxing on the networks will never work. All of that exposure goes away. Then on top of that, the purses for these overpaid fighters will be reduced drastically as they were overpaid. Al Hayman also then loses a lot of credibility and who would give him a dime after hundreds of millions down the drain? Also, symbolically, it is another black eye for boxing.

Flash and china media…why former abu dhabi employee now cfo of the ufc…are they selling? is it with station casino package? What s the news….loan due of ufc and stations? when?
d says
Loan due for the UFC? They can pay it easily. PBC loan….gone, only thing to show is the jumbo tron. Hahaha.

Wil if you ever actually read one of D’s long essays, its really just crammed filled gibberish that goes nowhere.
He goes off assumptions, estimations, and guesses to form his ideology.
D is the same guy who refuses to believe that May-Pac did 4.6M.
He claims the world is lying and that he has the inside scoop that it only did 2m.
He plugs his ears and shakes his head when shown facts.
The Greatest says
Errol Spence made more than everyone on that card.
So did Glowacki and Cunningham and Algieri I believe.

This is the single most delusional post you’ve ever made.
Every one of your analyses, involves literally fabricating outrageous things, pure manufacturing of statistics, etc. You are never correct and I’m not even sure if you are aware of your delusions.
You are the same guy who every time Meltzer verifies a number you deny it and claim it didn’t do what he claimed, yet when a boxing promotion, with no one fact checking them just throws out a wild number, you just accept it as gold. Your predictions are also literally wrong every single time, you’ve never been correct once. You just created another delusion here, claiming I said that fight did 2m. Also, in his eyes, “the world” is a bunch of lowlife boxing promoters. Goes to show you how his thought process works. Facts are his Kryptonite.
d says
“Errol Spence made more than everyone on that card.

The payroll for the UFC would have been bigger had the Hendo-Machida fight not been scrapped. Glowacki made less than Teixeira. More exaggerations from the weakest.
d says
One other thing- it must be nice to overpay boxers, providing them with inflated purses. That fight did 1.4m viewers on primetime in the overnights. That is so bad it is unbelievable- to pay fighters purses well over 1m for those ratings goes to show you how poorly thought out this entire “league” has been. This is a business that is unsustainable. The UFC nearly trounced them in ratings with a makeshift fight card that had less operating costs as well. The math isn’t looking very good for PBC. No one is going to give them a right’s deal and they are going to lose hundreds of millions.
d says
*The UFC trounced them in ratings*

D if pbc goes under it doesn’t matter fights go back to showtime. Where’s our Panda Express fight gear?

“D if pbc goes under it doesn’t matter fights go back to showtime. Where’s our Panda Express fight gear?”
I just pointed out why it mattered above. What is this obsession you have with the Chinese who were rumored to buy out the UFC (by a boxing writer) for 6b? You do realize if they sold the company for 6b that would be worth 10x more than every boxing promotion combined, right? Haha.
Wil says
Greatest, I just dont have time for his type of bs. Might be a good fella in the real world but Im too old to put up with the negative internet personalities people create.
Diego says
Wil,
I also wish fighters got paid more, but remember that the disclosed salary is not always the whole story. With that said, I think there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of how much of the UFC’s earnings get paid out to the fighters. However, everything has to be build on the back of a sustainable business model. PBC is headed for bankruptcy, much like a lot of past MMA promotions that tried to pay top dollar but couldn’t get the ratings to sustain the payroll.
With all that said, if you’re Rashad Evans and you’re averaging one fight a year, $150k isn’t much when you factor in costs and taxes. It gets pretty easy to hang up the gloves at that point. And he’s a former champion.
Wil says
I think when the method of business changes for mma, the pay for fighters will go up. Such as the the ability for champions from separate promotions being able to fight each other. As it stands, mma organizations act as their own leagues, sanctioning bodies, promotions, and often managers in one……when fighters have “options” thats when I think mma fighters will make more. I applaud Mayweather for wanting to get involved. Whatever he touches turns to gold.
And for what its worth, I do think one of the networks will end up making a deal with Haymon for PBC….if I were to guess it would be either ESPN, Spike, or FOX.
d says
Hahaha. Yeah, because boxing promotions cross-promote often. There is so much more red tape in boxing that turns it into a mess.
Also, if Mayweather gets into mma, his promotion will turn to mold. He has zero knowledge of this business and has no respect for it, therefore, it will fail miserably. Another Affliction situation.
PBC will never get a deal. They require a high rights fees deal, to support their huge purses and oversight. Their ratings are worse than Bellator who pay their fighters a fraction of what PBC shows do. They would also require a network deal like the UFC has with FOX, not just cable to sustain their model. And again, the ratings just aren’t there. Reports already surfaced that they are likely pulling out at the end of the year if nothing dramatically changes. They are done.
