Sage Northcutt added to UFC Fight Night 80

October 19, 2015 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

MMA Junkie reports that Sage Northcutt will face Cody Pfister at UFC Fight Night 80 on Thursday, December 10th.

Northcutt, the fresh-face 19 year old will be featured in the co-main event on UFC Fight Pass.  The event will be headlined by 21 year old Paige Van Zant taking on Joanne Calderwood.

Northcutt had a stunning debut at UFC 192 with a first round TKO of Francisco Trevino.  After the fight, Northcutt moved to Toronto to train at the Tri-Star Gym.

Payout Perspective:

The addition of Northcutt adds some interest to the Fight Pass card which is seeking to beef up its programming.  Northcutt and VanZant are being groomed to be the next “needle movers” for the sport and in my opinion putting them on the same card is a smart move.  Certainly, there can be marketing behind the young fighters at the top of this card which will serve as the “opening act” for Aldo-McGregor on December 12th in Vegas for UFC 194.
