WSOF finds new sponsor in Alienware

August 6, 2015 by Jason Cruz 2 Comments

The World Series of Fighting announced a partnership with Alienware.  The Dell computer subsidiary was recently an official sponsor of the UFC.

According to multiple sources, Alienware is no longer a sponsor of the UFC.

“Alienware is happy to partner with World Series of Fighting and to continue its support of one of the most exciting sports in the world,” said Alienware General Manager Frank Azor in a WSOF press release.

According to the release, the Alienware brand will be prominently visible in the decagon cage and elsewhere on all live NBCSN telecasts of World Series of Fighting events.

The sponsorship began with WSOF 22 on August 1st.

Payout Perspective:

Alienware has ended its relatively unheralded longtime stint with the UFC.  This past spring it was very visible with sponsorship in the UFC.  It was presenting sponsor for the UFC 185 Embedded episodes, present in the Octagon signage and even had a special singlet for Carla Esparza for her title defense against Joanna Jedrzejcyzk.  Perhaps, the company wanted to sponsor more fighters and can no longer do so with the Reebok deal.  The good news for MMA is that the company still wants to stay with the MMA demo.  While the WSOF partnership may not draw as many eyes as the UFC, it will get the chance to sponsor fighters and will be visible on the promotion events on NBC Sports Network.

@AT – No. There’s a place for WSOF despite its missteps. I think there are things it can do to be a legit #3 MMA promotion.
