The UFC announced plans for next year’s UFC International Fight Week main card as it plans to hold UFC 200 at the new MGM Arena set to open early next year. The announcement was made at the beginning of this year’s Fan Expo.
UFC 200 will take place at the new MGM Arena on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

The Greatest says
UFC 200 to open new MGM Arena……..unless Mayweather wants to fight that night.
d says
Hahaha!!! Gayweather is retiring moron and even if he wanted to fight, I’m not too certain they would take a fight with him against one of his scrub opponents over a UFC. Maybe if he was fighting Pacquaio again, but we all know he is done come this fall, which is when boxing ppv hits the iceberg.
Combo says
Awesome. UFC and MMA keep growing – biggest event just held with a bigger one soon with Aldo and McGregor fight.
And so it’s fitting that the new venue would open with a UFC event.
MMA is on fire.
Jason Cruz says
@TheGreatest – May/September biggest times for boxing. Mayweather doesn’t need to fight in July although the new arena is scheduled to be complete by May 2016….

It was meant as a joke but if Mayweather were to fight Pacquiao it would be in May 2016.
mmaguru says
With McGregor coaching on TUF 22, this event looks more and more likely to host Aldo and McGregor.
Pink Pig says
UFC 200 will do a whopping 8M gate with 1.3M buys. LOL.
WhoppingI tell ya.
Ahahahahahahah
d says
mmaguru, they are targeting January 2nd for Aldo-McGregor at the MGM according to Lorenzo Fertitta but nothing is set in stone.
d says
Sampson can’t handle the reality that this fight is going to be enormous and mma consistently destroys boxing in everything.
PBC still paying to get on network tv, meanwhile the UFC had a bidding war for their network deal. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
George Gonzales says
I’m confused. I thought ufc 200 was going to be in may? I can’t see the UFC missing out on 2 ppvs just to have UFC 200 in July.
Jason Cruz says
Hi George,
Its always been the plan to time it so UFC 200 is in July during IFW. I do find it interesting that they had the hindsight considering we had a couple PPVs cancelled along the way.
Matt Malloy says
FMJ and Manny opening the arena would be pretty cool. That would definitely be a larger than life event too. Their first fight was THE largest hyped fight ever, with a turnout to match, but the problem is that…..
….people saw it now. Whose going to pay $125 to watch that again? No real undercard and the title fight was Floyd showcasing his skills in point-fighting a decision over an injured Manny. If people pay to see this fight again…it’s only them paying for the hope of seeing FMJ get KO’d and his mouth shut for good. And well as maybe put in dent in future women he will probably beat up too.
Seriously, after watching the ‘fighters’ who fought at UFC 189, the heart, desire to finish fights, not leaving it at the hands of the judges…..who can go back to watching FMJ do another ‘Dancing with the Stars’ routine. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I bought the first one, zero chance i’m watching it again.
