The Ultimate Fighter 21 season finale drew 423,000 viewers according to Sports TV Ratings. The slight decrease from last week brought the season average to 394,000 viewers.
A replay the same night at 10pm PT drew an additional 27,000 viewers. Thus, the west coast feed not very strong or just everyone watched the final at 7pm PT.
The final episode saw ATT pull out the season victory over the Blackzilians with Hayder Hassan defeating Vicente Luque. Thus, with 3 straight victories ATT overcame an early deficit to beat the Blackzilians in the team competition. In a nice gesture, ATT decided to donate the $200K team prize to The Wounded Warrior Project. While I applaud the donation, I think that the money would have been best served if it was split between a donation and then given to the fighters and coaches. We hear so much about fighters struggling economically, I think they should have taken care of themselves first. MMA Junkie has the story that Hassan wanted to donate the money. Still, I think you have to be practical if your income is based on fighting.

Payout Perspective:
The season posted the lowest ratings ever for the TUF franchise. Of course, the evaluation of the show has changed over the years since it started on Spike TV. On FS1, TUF is good content for the network that needs original programming. We have much more UFC content on the air and the concept of the show seems to change which may or may not entice the casual viewer. The other issue is that the fighters on the show are no longer fighting for just one shot at making it in the UFC. It’s clear we’ll see most of these fighters in the UFC, Bellator, TitanFC or WSOF. Thus, the intrigue of the finality of the fights are no longer there. With that being said, if you actually got into this season, it was interesting and the rivalries were intense. Yet, based on the ratings, most people did not tune in.
Pink Pig says
Nobody cares about the UFC anymore.
No Brock Lesnar or Kimbo… no care
d says
Sampson is ovulating still. She is very cranky. Haha.
Diego says
Did not tune in and haven’t for the past few years. I like fights, not BS reality TV rivalries. I think most fight fans are like me (i.e. they don’t watch reality TV). And most reality TV fans don’t like fight sports. It may be time to cancel TUF. None of the boxing-themed reality TV shows survived either. It’s a tricky demographic to cater to.
d says
Diego, one point- TUF did survive though, unlike The Contender. Obviously the ratings aren’t what they once were, but it will be seen overall as a success. The Contender will not. It lost millions of dollars, while TUF made money and led to the UFC and MMA in general exploding with popularity.
saldathief says
next big tuf is conor and Jose D has to compare everything to boxing bahahahah
Pink Pig says
Didn’t The Contender draw like 8 million viewers or somethin?
That means that TUF is drawing like… 5% of what the Contender drew? Ahahahahahahahaha
Spinning that as success?
Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
saldathief says
D would spin a turd in a toilet bowl as a success bahahahah
d says
“Didn’t The Contender draw like 8 million viewers or somethin?”
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! On network tv and on primetime it shit the bed!!! That’s why it got cancelled idiot. It lost tens of millions of dollars. Talk about a success! HAHAHA!!!
The episodes in the first season cost 2m per. It lasted one season on network tv, then they pulled the plug because the ratings were toilet shit and sent it through ESPN and Versus. I bet the ratings were a knockout on cable. HAHA!!!
TUF 10 was averaging 3m+ per episode on Spike, let’s see the Pretender do that on Spike.
d says
Sal has an old crusty boxing promoter’s penis in his butt.
d says
“The Next Great Champ” is also doing great now. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Pink Pig says
Less than 500k watch TUF! Ahahahahahaha
Thats like ESPN Friday Night Fight numbers!
d says
That’s 423k more than “The Contender” and “The Next Great Champ” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Pink Pig says
Yep and WAY lower than the PBC average of 1.4 million!
Continue celebrating your failures LOL
d says
PBC doesn’t have a reality show, because if it did, it would be hovering around the 100k mark. Also, they in no way shape or form average 1.4m on cable.
Continue acting like the retard you are!
saldathief says
tuf is more then most ufc ppv numbers!! bahahahahahahah
d says
Saldaqueer.
