UFC Fight Night 59 attendance, gate and bonuses

January 19, 2015 by Jason Cruz 6 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the bonuses from UFC Fight Night 59.  Conor McGregor led the list of fighters earning $50,000 each.  In addition, the attendance was announced at 13,828 for a gate of $1.34 million.

Lorenz Larkin, Matt Van Buren and Sean O’Connell received the other bonuses.  Larkin earned a bonus for his TKO of John Howard.  Van Buren and O’Connell put on the fight of the night.

Dana White announced the attendance and gate figures post-event.  As reported by MMA Junkie, the event Sunday night at the TD Garden was third in the three UFC events held at the venue.

UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun v. Sonnen 12,539 in attendance for a gate of $1.53 million (August 2013)

UFC 118 Edgar v. Penn 2 – 14,168 in attendance for $2.8 million (August 2010)

UFC Fight Night 59: McGregor v. Siver – 13,828, $1.34 million (January 2015)

The venue holds between approximately 18,600 and 19,000 for events.

Payout Perspective:

It should be no surprise that McGregor earned a bonus.  It’s McGregor’s third straight Performance of the Night bonus.  He’s also received a bonus in 4 of his 5 UFC fights.  The attendance and gate were not as big as Fight Night 26, an event where McGregor was the co-main.  There was no word as to how many comps were given so we do not know how many were given out.  There were more in attendance Sunday than at Fight Night 26 despite a lower gate.  The Patriots game may have caused some casual fans to skip the event.  But, the attendance figure is good considering the UFC’s competition.

13,828 in attendance in Boston on a night where the Patriots are playing a championship game…very impressive. His fight with Aldo should put up good numbers as well.

How did Klitschko’s fight on ESPN do? A fraction of that number?

I thought you were talking about attendance. If 13k attended Klitschko fights, they would hang themselves… LOL

    Embarrassing

This was a money loser if you just look at the gate. Boston Garden will kill you with Union labor costs and on a Sunday its through the roof! Average ticket price is about $97 which is very low, and makes me believe they had to comp the shit out this one. Lots a seats available up to doors. God knows how much they spent hyping this kid but I assure you It wasn’t cheap. It was impossible to get Patriot tickets so that wasn’t a factor, and the game was a blow out so people switched over. The UFC is looking for a home for Connor and Boston looks like a good place. Lets see what he can do with a real opponent. I say he has trouble with any fighter with a good wrestling background .

Yeah, they would hang themselves, because Germans pay to see there fights with their welfare checks. Haha. Klitschko’s gates are turd floaters, not to mention he doesn’t fight on ppv like every big ufc fighter does because no one will buy that shit. Haha.

You can write to a judge about someone committing perjury? I didn’t know you could do that. Would’ve been good to know.

My wife says the same to me every day 😜
