MMA Junkie reports the UFC 182 salaries that were disclosed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Jon Jones topped the list of salaries making $500,000 despite no win bonus.
Via MMA Junkie:
Champ Jon Jones: $500,000 (no win bonus)
def. Daniel Cormier: $90,000
Donald Cerrone: $140,000 (includes $70,000 win bonus)
def. Myles Jury: $16,000
Brad Tavares: $50,000 (includes $25,000 win bonus)
def. Nate Marquardt: $49,000
Kyoji Horiguchi: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus)
def. Louis Gaudinot: $10,000
Hector Lombard: $106,000 (includes $53,000 win bonus)
def. Josh Burkman: $45,000
Paul Felder: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Danny Castillo: $36,000
Cody Garbrandt: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Marcus Brimage: $12,000
Shawn Jordan: $44,000 (includes $22,000 win bonus)
def. Jared Cannonier: $8,000
Evan Dunham: $54,000 (includes $27,000 win bonus)
def. Rodrigo Damm: $12,000
Omari Akhmedov: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Mats Nilsson: $8,000
Marion Reneau: $17,600 (includes $8,000 win bonus)*
def. Alexis Dufresne: $6,400 (minus 20% for not making weight)
Payout Perspective:
Dufresne was docked 20% of her purse due to not making weight. Jones and Cormier actually received an additional $50,000 for their FOTN bonus. Felder ($70,000) and Jordan ($94,000) also benefited from their awards. It was originally reported that Cerrone was making slightly over $100,000 but if you factor in his win bonus, he would have only made a base of $70,000 without a win bonus. Cormier made $90,000 which reflects a $5,000 bump from his last fight and Hector Lombard made $106,000 with his win
JF says
$90,000 for Daniel Cormier is fucking immoral. The UFC is all proud to say they sold far more than the 750k they predicted (or so they claim). Jones is not a draw, his PPV against Gus drew what, 350k? The only reason this was a long waited fight was the matchup. If Cormier wasn’t in as the challenger, nobody would have cared. The guy is the co-headliner and a major reason for people wanting to pay for the fight and he gets $90,000. Ridiculous. I hope he got TONS of PPV points.
FightBusiness says
for the love of God can this finally put to rest the argument that MMA fighters can get paid alot? 500k for the Greatest Of All time. Freaking ridiculous. yes i know he’ll get some ppv revenue but whats the most that will add up to another 2 million. 2.5 million for the greatest of all time. Cormier whose a also great fighter gets 90k. Amazing
d says
Daniel Cormier made $140k, he may also have received ppv points. We do not know. He may have made over a million for this fight for all you know.
d says
Fighbusiness cements his retardation by not being aware that Jones gets paid more than the two best boxers in the world right now: Ward and GGG. He also isn’t aware Cormier received more than 90k.
FightBusiness says
D- well according to this report Cormier received 90k. Thats all I can base things on. Even if he received 150k who fuckin cares thats chump change. Um also I love how you mention GGG’s earnings knowing full well he’s not a mainstream star and has yet to fight a star. When he fights Canelo, ward or kovolov he will break the bank (over 5 million in either fight) and the checks will keep coming after that. Ward has received over 2 million dollars before in a single fight. None of them were ppv’s. If he fought in 2014 he would have already made 5 million in one fight vs (froach, kovalav, Stevenson, GGG, canelo)
Pink Pig says
Embarrassing pay stub for a championship anything in this world…
d says
Well, you are fucking idiot, because he received a $40k bonus that was disclosed and that does not include any additional bonuses possibly ppv. He may have made a million for that fight for all you know.
I mentioned GGG because as you should know the guy is the best fighter in the world right now. You used the analogy of Jones being the best, which I wouldn’t even agree with, regardless, it was your analogy, not mine. I just responded to your dumb shit.
Ward’s highest pay day has been around 2m. He is an olympic gold medal winner, he is also probably the second best fighter p4p and the reason he hasn’t made any money on ppv, is because he knows he can’t sell a ppv. Hahaha.
Your hypotheticals are amusing.
d says
Excuse me $50k bonus, I meant he made 140k on the books
tops E says
Hahahahahaha….cheap…..nonito donaire gets paid more at 126 lbs hahahahaha
tops E says
90k for all the effort? …..ufc is a sweatshop
The Greatest says
GGG is the best boxer in the world?
No hes not. Name me 1 top 50 p4p boxer he beat?
Then you go off and name Ward who hasnt fought in over a year.
You know who the best is and thats Floyd.
After that Manny or even you really know boxing you might argue Roman Gonzalez or Guillermo Rigondeaux.
By the way that ppv apparently didnt hit 500k and that means Jones is making less than 1mil for the fight.
So he isnt even making Amir Khan money
saldathief says
140k hahahah one can’t even train on that money with any seriousness!! After taxes, yes fighters pay taxes, manager fees, trainers, food, drugs and Doctors and every day expenses its piss money.
BrainSmasher says
Lol fucking retard. So what is their pay for if its not to spend on “everyday expense”, food, meds, docs, premium training? Exactly who in this worlds pay check is used for only stuffin under a mattress? High priced manager is a luxury, so is training at the top gyms and having personal doctors. It has never been proven those are required to be successful in MMA.
If fighters need money they can stop blowing money on luxuries. They would also fight more often. They don’t because they have plenty of money.
Cerrone tells Jones he is crazy for not paying for special training partners for the fight. Cerrone pays extra and has a boring fight while Jones saves money, defends his belt, and out wrestles an Olympian.
d says
The GAYEST IS ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! Probably couldn’t get his meds this week!
d says
Saldaqueef’s delusions are amusing. He thinks only Donald Cerrone pays taxes and has outside expenses. He smells like an out house.
saldathief says
In a world title fight you need to train like a champion, neither of you two retards have any idea what training like a champion takes. Playing X box doesn’t make you an expert bahahahhahha two idiots on a keyboard is whats left of the UFC defenders PATHETIC!
d says
Saldaqueef, being a champion in the special olympics which you have medaled in, is not the same as a world champion in the ufc. You may need an extra shot of insulin, you brain is starting to create more delusions.
BrainSmasher says
What does training like a champion have to do with who you train with? Sal you are a fool. MMA gyms are the most over rated aspect of the sport. You know why gyms like The Lions Den, Team Punishment, Hammer House, Extreme Couture, and even Chute Boxe among others are dead or insignificant when they used to be a power? Because the fighters that made them famous got old. The gyms never made anyone, it was always the fighter who made the gym. This is why Team Jackson pushed Evans and Sanchez out the door for new established blood. He cant make anyone good he can only piggyback a fighters ability.
So paying to be a part of a big name gym is a waste and paying big name sparring partners is also a waste. You need people around you who can motivate you to give it your all. There is plenty of guys out there who can offer the best possible training and sparring without paying big money to bring in special or specific people.
Fighters are insecure and do anything they think gives them and edge regardless if it does or doesn’t. Guys are shaving their body and growing beards hoping for a slight advantage. People not having sex before a fight because it “might help” have more energy. Guys make it to the UFC while fighting in their same old local gym then feel like they have to do something and jump to a big name gym just because they “hope” it helps. Then you have guys like Santos who claims he spent 100K on his training camp. Why would anyone do that without proof and facts to show it works? After all he went his entire career and including making it to a title fight with the status quo. Why change? Because they will do anything in their power weather it works or not to get an advantage because they are insecure with their abilities. Most of the time they are doing more harm than good. But if you are paying big money for these pipe dreams then you clearly are not in need of money. No one in need would ever take such a long shot gamble on a hunch.
