Bellator 106: 4,189 tickets sold, 2,407 comped

November 8, 2013 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

Bloody Elbow reports the ticket sales from Bellator 106 which saw 4,189 tickets sold with 5,855 tickets going unsold.  Overall, there were 10,044 tickets available to purchase based on the information.

MMA Weekly first obtained the information from the California Department of Consumer Affairs.  The total attendance at the event was 6,596 for a gate of an estimated $359,000 although an official gate tally was not revealed.

Payout Perspective:

The numbers indicate that there were 2,407 tickets given away.  Three weeks out a report came out that only 1,700 tickets had been sold.  This would mean that almost 2,500 tickets were sold in the lead up to the event.  While the gate may not be a big key indicator of success as Bellator will hang its hat on the ratings, the attendance may be due in part to the lack of Ortiz-Rampage.  Still, it was unlikely that many more tickets would have been sold even if Ortiz and Rampage were on the card.

Ticket sales and gate don’t mean as much for Bellatore given that Viacom owns them. Belatore is mostly about having a young male demo and getting some relatively inexpensive programming for their Spike network.
