Payout Perspective:
For those wondering, the UFC offered Alvarez $70K/$70K in the proposed UFC contract that started the legal grappling with Bellator. No word on PPV upside Bellator 106 for at this time. The challenger will be making a higher base salary than the champion tonight as Alvarez has the highest base salary of the entire card. Pat Curran has the potential of making $120,000 ($80K + $40K bonus) if he defeats Daniel Straus. The Fight Master finalists have the potential for earning a $95K bonus and either Mike Bronzoulis or Joe Riggs will make $100,000 tonight.
UPDATE: Alvarez actually made $80K/$80K which makes his return to Bellator after his lawsuit…well disappointing salary-wise. Its only a $10K increase and no PPV points. And, you have to think about all of the legal bills he is or has paid. Still a good performance by both Alvarez and Chandler on Saturday.

Just 70/70 for Alvarez?!?? Just makes UFC decisions like giving 250k to Cung Le, 500k to James Toney that much more ASSinine. Yet you see legit fighters get 12/12 or 15/15 aaaaall the time. It is truly, truuuuly mind-boggling. And what does Lombard get….what, like 200k just to show right?

He also had a title fight promised that would have netted him 7 figures in his first fight.

Look at you bitches. People like you guys want competition and then the only positive thing that comes from “comp”, higher fighter salaries, and you guys bitch.
Cung Le and Toney bring a large fan base to their fights. Both were worth the money. I was at Toney/Couture fight in person and saw the boxing fans cheering for him. In fact my friends and I were yelling at them before the fight and screaming “UFC” in their ear.
No one who makes 15/15 is bring in fans, specifically known PPV buys fans like Toney and his boxing fans. Cung Le brings an entire demographic and a entire martial art to his fights and his fight set the US attendance record when he was in SF. They easily made their money back and then some on both guys. Now Le is helping them break into Asian as a Coach on TUF in Asia.

Ha, no one has even heard of San Shou. Branslapper has probably never even seen Cung Le fight San Shou, and if he has it was on youtube and not espn back in the day.
You could call those who actually care about the fighters well-being advocates as well as fans. Branslapper is just some fan who screams “ufc!!!” just like the just bleed guy. Pathetic.

Hahaha…Dana pays toney big money because he knows boxers get paid well. And they know they’re worth and won’t agree with cheap ass pay that Dana offers his fighters….
I hope al Haymon pushes thru in managing MMA fighters….Dana would be embarrassed with what he offers to fighters if ever he would negotiate with Haymon….Haymon deals with mayweather type of money hahaha
cutch says
Al Haymon also deals with guys that get paid less than a UFC prelim fighter. He would negotiate to the highest bidder and 9 times out of 10 that would be the UFC.
Jeremy says
You mixed the numbers up, Eddie got 80+80 and Chandler was 95+95.
Jason Cruz says
Thanks to Jeremy for pointing out it was Alvarez that received $80K/$80K and Chandler, the Champ at the time that was receiving $95K and $95K.

I have seen many of Cung Le’s san shou matches during K-1 USA events on ESPN. What does that have to do with anything? I am not a fan of the guy. But I have seen him fight long before he went into MMA. He event fought a MMA fighter Scott Sheely in one of his san shou matches which shows me how poor San Shou really is that the top guy was cherry picking bums in MMA because the talent pool in san shou was so thin. But that has nothing to do with the fan base he has. HIs drawing power has been proven in his fights. Only a fool like you thinks the UFC pays someone a lot of money without any reason to do so. As if they didn’t do their research and know he had a fan base. You cant call them cheap and wasteful. You cant have it both ways. So stop being a bitch cry baby!

Branslapper is just sore because Bellators LW champion and challenger get paid more than DOUBLE what UFC champ Weidman did for starching the reigning champ Silva. Tell you doctor to up your dosage LOL!
BrainSmasher says
I don’t need to tell my doctor anything. I have owned you every time you open your mouth. So now I have my own private Doctor. Doc OC, property of BrainSmasher!
DocOc says
Branslapper needs a Seroquel rx. There should be a community clinic that you can visit that is on a sliding scale that is more affordable to those without gainful employment. I would recommend branslapper looking into it before he bashes his head into the monitor one too many times.
