Bellator 99 – 660,000 viewers

Bellator 100 – 700,000 viewers

This past Friday had a 0.51 rating in the male 18-49 demo which was a 50 percent increase from last week. (H/t:  The MMA Report).  Season 9 represents an average of 599,000 viewers.

Payout Perspective:

WWE’s Smackdown scored 2.6 million viewers on SyFy while reruns of Cops lead-ins on SpikeTV did much better than Bellator 100.  We shall see if Bellator can continue with an uptick in ratings.

If so then Bellator should, by all rights, become a large draw on pay-per-view and build some major, major stars.

I am surprised at the ratings for Bellator on friday. I expected ratings to further drop with the change from saturday to friday. Instead better ratings and now they are even doing better in the demo than usual.

If they can get their event costs to break even or profit they might actually have a chance at sticking around for the long term.

Even if they don’t stick around, the fact that Bellator and the UFC are becoming closer to each other in ratings is really bad for the UFC. The idea of this was not possible several years ago. Certainly more proof that the boom of MMA is over.

Impressive and encouraging! I thought putting all their eggs in the PPV basket would be a disaster but it seems to be ok so far.

Bellator have signed a deal with Fox Sports Latin America, the UFC used to have a deal with them but are now launching their own network down there with Televisa (not including Brazil).

All of their eggs werent in one basket cuz they were getting the fox deal going. I’m impressed with how things are playing out for them. now a relatively mediocre ppv won’t be a death sentence.
