Payout Perspective:
Are these the ratings the Spike TV executives hoped for when this show debuted? The ratings were steady and righted itself after moving to Thursday nights. While the concept for the show was innovative, it lacked the spark and entertainment value. Another issue is whether having TNA Wrestling as a lead-in held any value for this show. Yes, the ratings seemed to do better on Thursday nights but how much can we really attribute to a pro wrestling crossover? This is debatable and something I go back and forth on all the time.
BrainSmasher says
Whether TNA helps their ratings or not. We do know that a over whelming majority of them are turned off by it as the retention rate is very low. I will refer to you guys with this as you follow pro wrestling. Is it still true that TNA has a older audience than that of the WWE? If so is it significant? I do know at one time TNA was using almost 1980’s wrestlers exclusively and was big among older fans with the Hogans and Savages, etc. Do they still appeal to mostly the older Demo? This might explain why Bellator isn’t catching on with them. MMA has always been lost among the older demographic and makes the number of people able to be obtained very small for Bellator and a cross promotion almost useless.
Sampson Simpson says
All I want to know is where the $300 million dividend on the $500 million loan to the UFC went.
Why would take a loan for their company and immediately pay themselves 60% of the loan? Something is not right. Musclepharm and Xyience are good examples.
Shadiness abounds.

I think the UFC is a bubble ready to burst…..
Chris says
Not good considering the network averages I think 800k in primetime. its the reason they moved Bellator and stopped airing replays cause it was bringing down their daily average. Viacom owning Bellator is the only reason they might get a second season, if they didnt own them the show would be done.
Show was really boring, if they do another season they need Tito, Page, Mo and need to change a few things up to make it more entertaining.
LOL surprise, surprise at Sampson and Tops shitting on the UFC when this isnt even about the UFC. Glad to see nothing has changed here.
Tops of says
Surprise surprise Chris is whinning again but this time adds LOL word…haha
Sampson Simpson says
HILARIOUS how Chris completely avoided the HORRIFIC TUF ratings piece altogether. Seriously HILARIOUS
Random Dude says
That article Tops posted is actually pretty interesting if you read it. Short read as well.
TNA definitely helps Bellator ratings, which is why I think the moving of events to Fridays will probably not work out so well. The “Beef Thursdays” gimmick was working for them. Maybe they should have a Friday night TNA show as well. Overall though I think fake wrestling’s association with MMA is bad for the sport, but beggars can’t be choosy.
It will be interesting to see the ratings for this Saturday’s Bellator 98. I expect them to be the worse ratings on Spike ever, but who knows. Sometimes Bellator and Spike surprises us.
Chris says
Actually Samspon I dont really come here to post that much anymore, probably wont for a while. too many shitty people like you, Tops, aintitthetruth, Random Dude etc.
As for Wed UFC ratings they werent good, for the network considering what they average they were great but for the UFC and what they are used to doing it was bad.
It is a new network in 12-15 million less homes than FX is in and its gonna take time to build, they did it with FX and FUel, they build up the audience over time and they have to do that again. But for the UFC what they are used to doing its not good to have to keep doing that on new networks. This season of TUF on FX would have done double the ratings they did on FS1.
Wed cards will be a challenge since they arent gonna be the best cards and start in the afternoon but they should be ok.
Sampson Simpson says
Good riddance since your opinion aint worth much
Tops of says
Chris feelings are hurt sniff sniff….hahaha….
He won’t post here for a while because of all the negative UFC reports….
aintitthetruth says
Wow. there is now an mma site that is allegedly dominated by non ufc shills. look for zuffa to send in reinforcements/the clowns.
Random Dude says
If you are really leaving Chris, then good, let’s get the paid trolls out of here. Interesting that I read the following article after reading Chris’s complaint:
http://deadspin.com/leaked-memo-bleacher-reports-top-eight-ways-to-not-pi-1109282118
“And finally, always remember this: you would be SHOCKED to learn how much they pay attention to when it comes to MMA media. Their corporate and PR teams love Bleacher Report, and they read everything. You may think you’re flying under the radar, but you aren’t. They are all paying attention.
Each and every day, the UFC PR team prepares a “morning report” consisting of articles from all major newspapers and MMA websites. This report is compiled and emailed to everyone on the corporate side of things, from top communications execs all the way to Dana and Lorenzo. I’ve seen these reports, and they are very thorough. And yes, they include Bleacher Report stories.
You’re always being watched. I don’t say this to scare you. I say it to let you know that you’re not an unknown commodity, and that people are paying attention. They read what you write. Mistakes you make now, when you think you’re under the radar, could end up burning you down the line.”
I think it is now pretty clear that “Chris” is a paid Zuffa shill. The guy doesn’t want to engage in discourse using objective facts, yet accuses everyone else of being a troll.
Everybody is a shitty person for discussing the continual decreasing ratings or the fact that the UFC has never surpassed the ratings they got on Spike. Sorry that we just can’t ignore the data like you want us to Chris. Sorry that people keep commenting about the debt the UFC carries and how that might affect their business. You are right, that is totally a troll-like move. You should go work on getting Bloomberg news and the Wall Street Journal shutdown too since they might say something negative about JC Penney or something. Everybody knows that if corporate says everything is great, it is. Everything is always good for a business or industry no matter what the data looks like. The next Bellator and UFC ppvs will do a million buys because Dana said the sport is bigger than the NFL. So sorry Chris, you are right and no one should argue otherwise no matter what data comes out in the news.
And for the record, I don’t think Brainsmasher is a paid Zuffa troll, although he could just be a smarter one than Chris. I think he is actually just a UFC-fanboy, but at least he actually tries to respond to points people make and make objective arguments himself, even if he does so poorly. Chris doesn’t do that, nothing but pure shill and troll.
Tops of says
Hahaha.nice article….I’m not surprised….the thing UFC does not talk about regarding business is they’re marketing expense….it costs serious money to hire pr spin practitioners,ad agencies etc….costs to promote in tri media, web media……
Chris says
Boxing on FS1 did 30k viewers, LMFAO, Boxing is a joke, boxing is dead, its only Floyd right now. Hahahahahahahahahahaha
Did I do that right Tops and Sampson? I think I did that right, maybe you can give me a few pointers. it has nothing to do with the topic, not even the right sport, its bringing up actual ratings and its shitting on a sport.
Looks like I got the 4 points covered.
Tops of says
Chris your back ..Hahaha….I thought you weren’t going to post for “a while”? You sound exasperated lol…..
Sampson Simpson says
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! She is hilariously moody and predictable.
Menstruation cycle is predictable
BrainSmasher says
Chris is right. TUF on FX would have did at least double the ratings FS1 did. TUF is a show that would appear to almost every demo with the female fighters on it. After all it was the purpose of create womans division and a female TUF is to attract new fans. Especially females. By going off a drama network to a pure sports network. They killed any chance of that happening.
Also Chris said “probably wont for a while”. Do you guys know what “probably” means? So, Sampson, when you say you thought he wasn’t going to post for a while. Your were wrong. You didn’t THINK… at all.
Anyone who thinks Zuffa paid anyone to post on here is a fool. I do believe they had people to post on the forums in the past. I mean many years ago before TUF got big. Then everyone was concentrated on a few sites and a few opinions could make a difference because there was no many people following the sport like today. If the were to do it today which I don’t believe because it would be pointless and have no effect. They would only do it on the Underground Forum. The sport is to big and there is to many critics to address them all. What does happen is the millions of fans the UFC have around the world take those troll critics to task themselves. Just as Chris and I have here. Then those trolls claim they are paid by Zuffa so they can at least feel like they have been owned by professionals and actually feel important that Zuffa gives a damn about their opinion.
Wouldn’t it be cool if the Culinary Union picked out Brain Smasher as the leader of all MMA fans and try to discredit me? I bet Aintitthetruth, Sampson, Random Dumbass, and Tops are all paid Culinary Union!!!
See it works both ways. Except I know you are not. Because they would at very least get someone with a high school education. Hell, no one even has to debate you. You guys come off so ignorant that you discredit your stance to begin with. Anyone who reads it knows what you are saying is ignorant ramblings. IF they are not smart enough to see it at first glance. They definitely see it when every single post is the same trolling. IF any of your complaints were real you would have at least normal rational unbiased friendly conversations at some point In other articles. But you don’t. Its the same agenda driven troll characters in every article which no one takes serious.
BrainSmasher says
I know that is a long post. But I think it is very well written. I even had it ran through the Zuffa editing department. hahahaha
BrainSmasher says
I meant Tops was wrong. Its hard to tell you girls apart. Neither of your opinion are unique. Like you are reading off a script. You must share a brain. That wouldn’t be bad if there was only two of you as it would mean you have half a brain. But there is 4 of you. Not good, Not good!
aintitthetruth says
To summarize. what bs said ” i am bs, and i am a stooge.”
Sampson Simpson says
I didnt read any of that mess but I do know BS = Zuffa employee
Tops of says
Another essay….
aintitthetruth says
Knowing zuffa bs is probably a contractor rather than an employee…
BrainSmasher says
Whatever the case is I would honor my contract I signed.
Sampson Simpson says
The contract is to counter any anti-Zuffa opinions.
Where did the $300 million go? What is Musclepharm and Xyience?
aintitthetruth says
Musclepharm sponsors michael “the dog catcher” vick http://musclepharm.com/category/content/athlete/pro-football/michael-vick
aintitthetruth says
I’m wondering what this is…. http://www.zuffainvestoralerts.org/2013/02/zuffa-and-musclepharm-once-bitten-twice-not-shy.html
aintitthetruth says
“Brawling for dollars” I’m in stitches. XD gotta love that culinary union. i wish my union was like this.
Random Dude says
Contractor makes sense. Explains why he hates all non-UFC mma. Too many shills.
BrainSmasher says
Hate all non UFC MMA? I bet I have been to way more non UFC events that you will in your entire life? You don’t know what you are talking about, dumbass!
What I don’t like is a promotion who slows the progress of MMA by making the sport look bad, causing fan confusion, prevents fights from happening, and making poor business decisions. Do your own thing while staying true to the foundation of the sport that is always accepted and established. Make smart business decisions while having credibility and passion for the sport and put long term goals over short term gain. Anyone who does this I have a lot of respect for. A bunch of johnny come lately’s who just come for a quick buck or to piggy back the UFC with no respect for what everyone has worked for. Then I have no respect for them.
Aintitthetruth says
Bellator does a decent job by allowing a straight forward path to their championship. Whereas the only thing that determines a UFC fighters way to the top is if White has a whim/ fighters begging or pleading for a title shot. What makes the sport look worse: gsp begging white on his hands and knees for a title shot, or bellator contenders winning 2 high profile tournament fights to win a title shot? I would rather it be a one night 4man tourney with 2x5min rounds. That would be sweet.
In the mean time i wonder if the resident stooge of the day would like to weigh in on http://www.zuffainvestoralerts.com
BrainSmasher says
High profile fight? Lmao!!! The UFC puts on the fights people want to see. Rare does a high ranked guy get denies. Only when they have already had a shot. Bellator tourneys are weak. A guy from my gym just fought in one. Huge mismatches in the first round. Then if they do get a belt. BFC will claim their are hurt and make someone else champ or refuse to bring them back.
Only a fool like yourself would look past this!
Sampson Simpson says
Hilarious that Brainsmasher doesn’t even deny being compensated by Zuffa for shilling.
Sad that Zuffa and the UFC pay a guy to use a lame handle like “Brainsmasher” to push their crappy agenda. Seriously… you couldn’t think of a better name.
It’s embarrassing.
BrainSmasher says
I was on mma forums supporting the UFC and MMA long before Zuffa ever took over the UFC. I was one of the original hardcore fans of NHB/MMA who kept the sport alive the first 10 years the sport was created. I don’t need to be paid by anyone to defend the sport I love. Just as fans in the NFL are not paid to wear their favorite teams jersey.
Tops of says
“I was one of the original hardcore fans of NHB/MMA” who kept the sport alive the first 10 years…b.s…..
Lol…..b.s. is with an “elite” group ….kept MMA alive…self important statement hahahaha….
Random Dude says
Give Brainsmasher a little rope and he always figures out how to hang himself.
