Invicta FC PPV now available on DirecTV

July 1, 2013 by Jason Cruz 7 Comments

Bloody Elbow reports that Invicta FC will be available on PPV through DirecTV.  Invicta president Shannon Knapp made the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday.

In an interview with The Wrestling Observer last week, Knapp indicated that there was an issue with the bandwidth for DirecTV which precluded the Invicta PPV from being on its platform.  Invicta’s original announcement indicated that it would be available in the US and Canada on inDemand and Dish Network only.

Payout Perspective:

The July 13th event should get a boost with the availability of the event.  How much will it move the dial in terms of PPV buys is still unknown.  But, having it available to a wider audience will give it the opportunity to a wider audience to sample the product.

    Jason,

In your opinion, has this move been sufficiently promoted? I’ve seen it reported on a lot of MMA websites, and I assume that the majority of their current audience consistently frequents those spaces, but is this assumption folly? Also, it seems odd that the partnership was forged so close to the date of the event. Thoughts?

You are asking if more distribution is good for Invicta?

WTF. What would be better? Not being available on Directv altogether?

Seems to me he was talking about promotion of the event, Sampson.

Uhhh no. He’s talking about this “move”.

The “move” was getting DirecTV to distribute the PPV alongside the rest of the cable/sat operators that were already on board.

He’s asking if this “move” has been sufficiently reported? What difference does it make when DirecTV will be promoting the event via 15/30 second spots to move units.

That wasn’t his point dumbass. He was talking about the effect it will have on the event. He never asked if it was a good idea. Other promotions have a PPV deal way in advanced. THey are only getting once 2 weeks out. The UFC is promoting a PPV a month before hand. We are 10 days out and still no promotion. So basically the numbers of their first PPV are going to be very poor and useless as an indicator of its success. Which means Invicta will not do another because of it not being successful or they may do another thinking it was due to short notice and maybe lose even more money. So yes it was silly to not get this deal done until now. If the loses are great enough, Then yes the distribution may not have been a good thing. We know from IFL and Elite XC that live events cost a couple million in production costs. So to put that kind of money into a show and not be able to promote the platform that carries it to get a return was a bad decision.

I don’t believe there is much of a paying fan base. So the difference will be negligible. Maybe they already have a high production cost anyway. But either way the numbers wont tell us much because of the short notice.

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?
