The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale numbers

December 15, 2012 by Jason Cruz 4 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the attendance, gate and bonuses for Saturday night’s Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.  In the main event, a Roy Nelson upper-cut was the beginning of the end for Matt Mitrione.

The event held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas drew 2,500 fans for a gate of $318,525 which averages out to $127.41 per ticket although we assume a certain amount of comps were handed out.

Bonuses were $40,,000 and are as follows:

FOTN: Tim Elliott and Jared Papazian

KO of the night:  Pat Barry

Submission of the night:  TJ Waldburger

Payout Perspective:

It was announced during the telecast that the Hard Rock was sold out for Saturday night. This means that 2,500 was considered a sell-out.  Roy Nelson could have won KO of the night as well.

Thee UFC is going to the well too many times. When people at work ask me about a recent UFC I say “which one?” or “There are so many building at one time its hard to keep them all straight”. I miss Strikeforce. But especially the IFL.

The fact that the UFC has “all these events” and your co worker still cant even specify what event or fighter he is talking about shows the UFC doesnt have enough events. This is the same type of clown who never bothered to learn the fighters or followed the sport close enough even with less events. More events are needed to reach these people who dont see it enough to know their ass from a hole in the ground. Within a week the UFC sold out 3 events in 3 different cities. IT also, im sure, got atleast decent ratings on each of those. We know 1 got great ratings for sure. This is what the UFC has wanted all along. I also thought it was great to be able to tune in 2 nights in a row and catch fights, good fights, on tv. Millions of others did the same and will follow those fighters onto PPV just as the UFC has planned.

There was nothing good about the IFL. It was by far the worst MMA Promotion ever created. All it was was a scam to steal millions of dollars from MMA fans. They had the worst business model, the worst fighters, the worst rules, the worst tv deal and they ran the company into the ground and had MMA fans eat the loses through their stocks. Yeah the IFL was great hahahha!!!

The IFL gave their fighters a steady paycheck and insurance benefits. Rather than this current stripper contract model fighters work under. It was better for the fighters and the Team based aspect was fun. Especially cuz it had some internationals like Renzo Gracies Pitbulls and Marco Ruas’ Condors.

Their four minute rounds are more fighter friendly too. closer to a Pride Bushido time limit.
