UFC on Fuel TV 6’s bonuses were handed out this morning and were $40K each. In addition, MMA Junkie reports attendance of 8,415 and a gate of $1.4 million for the UFC’s first appearance in China.
Notably, all of the matches went to a decision with the exception of the last 2 – which ended in submission and KO. Thus, there were your two stoppage bonuses.

Le is appearing in the movie, “The Man with The Iron Fists” which was adorned on the front of his shorts in today’s fight against Franklin. Very appropriate today considering his one punch KO of Franklin. Silva provided the UFC with some good B-Roll after his head and arm triangle of Nedkov as he calmly walked over to the camera, gave the throat slash and “Shhh” go to sleep sign. Awesome.
The event was held at the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel off the mainland of China. The attendance reflected a better attendance/gate than the last Fuel show in Nottingham, England but paled in comparison to UFC on Fuel 2 in Sweden if you are compare the international shows for Fuel.
Anyone notice the Chinese fans boing Gomi? That whole ww2 thing hasn’t been forgotten by the Chinese. I don’t think the UFC should have had non-chinese fighters from asia (Vietnamese and other communist countries not withstanding) unless they were matched up against Chinese fighters. Except there are none to note except for a Zhang who should have long ago been cut. There shoulda put brazilian fighters in place of the asian ones except for the Commies.
Well not only have they not forgotten, the anti-Japanese sentiment is very alive and well. I thought it was strong in Korea, but apparently it’s got nothin’ on China (http://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/2012/09/28/will-china-riots-send-foreign-manufacturers-packing/). I think the real issue with the Chinese and Koreans is how the Japanese history books continue to whitewash their wartime atrocities.
I find it interesting that there were no (at least I haven’t seen any) “Anything can happen in MMA” articles regarding Cung Le’s unexpected KO. You know, about the unpredictability of the sport and the little gloves etc. (although even with 14oz gloves Franklin didn’t have his guard up at that moment^^). Would have made for a nice story me thinks
I had a feeling he would get KO’ed. On my picks for the event. I was debating weather to go with Le for the KO or not. Franklin is the better fighter imo. But He is getting older and he has slowed a lot over the years. He also doesnt have much of a chin at all. I knew he would catch Franklin who isnt quick enough to get out without getting hit like he used to. BUt i thought it would be much later in the fight. A fight i thought Franklin would be winning up to when he got KO’ed. BUt its hard to go with a guy who on paper isnt as good a fighter and the other members of them forum talked me into going with Franklin. So offically i put my picks as “going with Franklin but my gut says he gets KO’ed”. So i dont think it is a real surprise. Franklin still hangs and beats more of the top guys than Le who hasnt really fight any of the top 10. But head to head at this point in Richs career it is hard hor him to for 3-5 rounds with someone who has power and still some quickness like Le. He has to be flawless because his chin cant over come even 1 mistake. There is a reason the UFC tried to set this fight up for so long. There isnt many names Le can beat. Franklin is one and Wandy Silva was a match up Le had a chance. The others guys are to young, or tough, or powerful for Le at his age and skill set and poor cardio. If Le can get in shape he might be able to out point Stann for 3 rounds. But even though would be hard for him to not get killed. Not many winnable fights for him unless you dig up a very low ranked fighter. But with people ranking him in top 10. Im not sure they can justify that.
