Payout Perspective:

Its interesting to see JDS receive a $100K win bonus. Not sure if its the biggest win bonus given to fighters in  the UFC. Perhaps the big bonus is in lieu of any percentage of PPV buys fighters like Brock Lesnar receives. Only speculation there.   Kenny Florian was the only other fighter making six figures from the official salary list with $130K. JDS salary continues to rise as his last 3 fights saw a base of $40K ($40K-$40K win for a total of $80K) (vs Nelson), $35K ($35K-$35K win for a total of $70K) (vs Gonzaga) and $30K ($30K-$30K win for a total of $60K)(vs Yvel). For UFC 131, he made a $100K base with $100K win bonus. A pretty descent ascent up the pay ladder for JDS.

JDS probably got the pay raise because he was not only originally scheduled to fight Cain for the belt, he was booked on the Ultimate Fighter. Still, it is a bargain. In fact, it is pretty remarkable that the whole reported payout is 1/10th what the UFC made on ppv sales and the gate. Or that Paul Williams, Hopkins, and Pascal each made more than the whole card did on their last HBO bouts

I dont under stand. Why wouldnt JDS get a win bonus. That is the standard contract structure. I highly doubt JDS gets a PPV cut as there is no sign he is a draw and the UFC isnt going to give him a cut if the buy rates are due to only the brand. The fighters who do not get a win bonus is guys who neg a flat rate. Ussually guys past their prime running on name value with little chance to win. Like wandy and Tito. It is unusual that his pay is rising so fast each fight. franklin was on a contract that would go up after each fight as well as TUF winners. But it is rare unless it isnt in the contract and the UFC is just being a good sport.

      BSmash,

I think my point was that you normally don’t see such a big win bonus. But, looking back, I see Frank Mir received a $125K win bonus at 130. Rampage earned $250K at 130 but no win bonus.

Cain Valasquez 100K @ UFC 121, Hughes 100K @ UFC 117, Rashad 185K @ UFC 114, Bisping 150K @ UFC 114. I believe Penn also gets 150K but he never wins to find out lol.
