MMA Junkie reports the payroll for UFC 132. Notably, UFC veterans Tito Ortiz and Wanderlei Silva were the top earners on Saturday night.

Via MMA Junkie:

Dominick Cruz: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus)

def. Wanderlei Silva: $200,000

def. Matt Wiman: $18,000

Tito Ortiz: $450,000 (no win bonus)

Melvin Guillard: $64,000 ($32,000 win bonus)
def. Shane Roller: $21,000

Rafael Dos Anjos: $28,000 ($14,000 win bonus)
def. George Sotiropoulos: $15,000

Brian Bowles: $34,000 ($17,000 win bonus)
def. Takeya Mizugaki: $12,000

Aaron Simpson: $34,000 ($17,000 win bonus)
def. Brad Tavares: $10,000

Anthony Njokuani: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus)
def. Andre Winner: $14,000

Jeff Hougland: $12,000 ($6,000 win bonus)
def. Donny Walker: $6,000

The information was received from the Nevada State Athletic Commission and excludes “locker room” bonuses.

Payout Perspective:

Its interesting to note that Ortiz received a flat flee with no win bonus. But, Ortiz did receive an extra $75K for his Submission of the Night. Not too bad considering Ortiz stated he “took a big, big, big paycut.” Its always weird to see the winner of a match earning less than the person they defeat. Comparing Chris Leben’s salary to Silva’s is the example for this event.

I think that Ortiz’s “big paycut” was the sacrifice of his usual PPV percentage. Seems to make sense since his disclosed salary went up so sharply from his last bout. The $525k is probably all that Zuffa paid him, instead of the ($?) he usually goes home with.

Silva is a bigger draw than Leben, but ten times the draw?

The payouts are strange. Take Darth’s $20,000 payout. After he pays his camp/coach fees, he can’t have much left; probably owes money. I wonder if this money is included in his TUF contract money.

@Machiel: “Silva is a bigger draw than Leben…” With older fans, I’ll give you that. Not so sure that’s true among newer (since TUF Season 1) fans. Leben reminds me of Tank Abbot but with MMA fighting skills. He’s there to bomb with you. I love his heart.

Why do people always assume everyone signed a contract on their way to the cage?!? Wandy more than likely is still on his Original contract when he come from Pride. You cant expect him to make less just because he isnt doing well when his contract is still in effect. It was the same thing when Franklin was champ. He took a gamble and signed a long term deal that was actually great for him at the time and give him job security. When he won the belt he was stuck making 30/30. Fans would piss and moan like he is getting ripped off when it was the contract he negotiated for. Sometimes the UFc gets screwed like the Silva contract and some times the fighter gets the short end of the stick. Thats how contracts work. At least Franklin was man enough to honor his unlike others. Not sure when Silva’s contract ends. But if there is many fights left. That could be why Dana wants him to retire.

Also it isnt that unusual to have a loser making more than the winner. It happens every time Brock lost and every time Tito has ever lose except maybe vs Chuck and Randy. There is usually a couple on every card. But usually not 6 figure amounts though.

BTW, there was actually 6 fights at UFC 130 that the loser had a bigger contract than the winner. Sometimes it isnt noticeable because the winner gets the win bonus. Like Story getting 17/17 vs Alves 33/33. Since Story won he got 34K to Alves 33K. But Alves contract was much bigger.
