UFC 2009 Sees Price Drop Ahead of Holiday Season

December 7, 2009 by Kelsey Philpott Leave a Comment

MMA fans may have noticed a slew of new UFC video game advertisements (and mat logo placements) recently, but they are not for the newest edition of UFC Undisputed. Rather, THQ and the UFC have decided to drop the price of last year’s game.

Undisputed 2009 has been out on store shelves for the better part of six months, and will soon be replaced by an updated version in May or June of 2010. So, the holiday season is the perfect time to drop the price, and further boost sales of a game that sold over 3 million copies.

Ultimately, this price drop and the mainstream advertisements – such as the one’s featured on ESPN and ESPN2 – could help the organization pick up some much needed interest going into the new year. The more children, boyfriends, and husbands that get the game for Christmas, the better.

Update:

According to MMAWeekly, gameplay video of UFC Undisputed 2010 will debut on Spike TV’s “2009 VGAs” this Saturday – the same night that UFC 107 will air live on PPV.

THQ Inc. on Monday announced that UFC Undisputed 2010, the company’s much anticipated second videogame based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will make its worldwide debut at the upcoming 2009 Spike TV “Video Game Awards.” Set to air live from Los Angeles on Saturday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, the awards show will feature the first-ever gameplay footage from UFC Undisputed 2010, interspersed with commentary from top UFC fighters. In addition, the footage will be introduced through a special UFC guest appearance.

Accompanying the worldwide debut of UFC Undisputed 2010, the franchise’s best-selling and critically acclaimed inaugural release, UFC 2009 Undisputed, is nominated for “Best Individual Sports Game” at the 2009 Spike TV “Video Game Awards.” Fans can vote for UFC 2009 Undisputed to win this prestigious videogame industry honor by visiting http://vga.spike.com.
