UFC 89: Live on Rogers Sportsnet

October 17, 2008 by Kelsey Philpott

Canada’s Rogers Sportsnet is the only network in North America to broadcast UFC 89 live and in HD on Saturday, October 18th starting at 3:00 p.m. (ET)/12:00 p.m. (PT) from the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England.

The event will also be shown on the UFC’s American home, SpikeTV, at 9:00 p.m. (ET).

Despite the presence of any title defenses or marquee names, UFC 89 promises to be a thrilling affair with a number of intriguing match-ups that will have serious implications for their respective divisions.

Michael Bisping will take on Chris Leben in the show’s main event. However, the two light heavyweight bouts could easily steal the show: Keith Jardine vs. Brandon Vera; and, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Luis Cane. For those on prospect watch, be sure to look for Shane Carwin, Dan Hardy, and Jim Miller if their bouts happen to make the televised portion of the event.
